From Pelvic Floor to Peace of Mind: How Exercise, Infertility, and Therapy Collide

When I started my own infertility journey, I thought I had to get everything “just right” in order to get pregnant. The right foods. The right supplements. The right meditation playlist. And—oh yes—the perfect workout plan.

But here’s the thing… no one tells you just how confusing that can get.

I found myself spiraling down late-night Google rabbit holes:
“Should I stop lifting weights during IVF?”
“Can running cause implantation failure?”
“Is Pilates safe for infertility?”

I was so worried that I’d somehow mess everything up—that one wrong move at the gym could undo months of medication, injections, and carefully timed cycles.

Sound familiar?

Now, years later, I’ve turned that anxiety into action. I became a personal trainer specializing in pelvic floor health and pre/postnatal fitness, and I integrate that work into my therapy practice for women and couples navigating infertility. Because here’s what I wish someone had told me back then: you don’t have to figure this out alone.

Why Pelvic Floor & Core Work Matters During Infertility, Pregnancy, and Beyond

Your pelvic floor isn’t just about “kegels” (although we’ll talk about those, too). It’s the foundation of your body’s stability, strength, and function—especially when you’re dealing with hormonal changes, medical treatments, or pregnancy-related shifts.

When your pelvic floor and core are supported, you can:

  • Reduce pain and discomfort from bloating, injections, or procedures

  • Improve blood flow to reproductive organs

  • Support posture and minimize back or hip pain

  • Prepare your body for pregnancy and recovery

But here’s the myth I want to debunk: working out during infertility or pregnancy isn’t dangerous when done right. In fact, intentional movement can reduce stress, improve hormone regulation, and help your body process the emotional toll this journey brings.

Exercise Without Fear: What Safe, Supportive Workouts Look Like

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here. The right movement plan depends on your body, your treatment cycle, and your mental health needs. That’s why I work one-on-one with clients to create customized programs that:

  • Focus on low-impact, pelvic-floor-friendly strength and stability

  • Incorporate mindful breathing techniques to calm the nervous system

  • Adjust intensity around treatment schedules, procedures, and recovery times

  • Support healing after miscarriage, loss, or delivery

Instead of white-knuckling your workouts—or avoiding them entirely out of fear—you’ll have a plan that works with your body, not against it.

The Mental Load of Infertility: How Therapy Fits In

Here’s the thing no one prepares you for: infertility isn’t just hard on your body. It’s an emotional marathon. There are triggers everywhere—pregnancy announcements, baby showers, that casual “So, when are you having kids?” at the grocery store.

That’s why therapy is such an essential piece of this puzzle. In my work, I combine:

  • Movement-based strategies to release stored stress in the body

  • Mindfulness techniques like MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction)

  • Somatic work to process trauma stored in muscles and tissues

  • Couples therapy tools to help partners navigate the emotional and physical toll together

When exercise, nutrition, and therapy come together, we’re not just treating one layer of your experience—we’re supporting your whole self: body, mind, and heart.

You Don’t Have to Do It All Perfectly

I used to believe there was a “right” formula to finally get pregnant. Eat clean, avoid stress, move gently, think positive—and voilà. But life, science, and hormones are a little messier than that.

If there’s one thing infertility has taught me, it’s this: there’s no magic checklist. Beating yourself up, living in guilt, and overthinking every tiny decision only adds more weight to an already heavy journey.

That’s why my work now is about helping women and couples let go of the shame, fear, and confusion—and instead build confidence, strength, and clarity. I walk beside you, partnering with you as we create a plan that feels supportive, doable, and healing.

The Holistic Support You Deserve

You deserve someone in your corner who gets it—not just because they’ve read the research, but because they’ve lived it. Someone who can:

  • Help you move your body safely

  • Teach you how to protect and strengthen your pelvic floor

  • Support your emotional wellbeing through therapy

  • Guide you toward balance, nourishment, and relief

Whether you’re navigating infertility, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, or all three, you don’t have to figure this out alone. I’m here to help you feel supported—body, mind, and heart—every step of the way.
